PreK Scholars 2024-2025

Our PreK Scholars Program has been such a success and we are excited to plan another school year and welcome new scholars to our outstanding program. Classes will begin the week of September 9th and be offered every FULL day following the Rumson School Calendar.

Deane Porter students are walked by our teachers to or from school on the days they attend.

Morning session - begins at 10:30. They will participate in socialization, receive instruction, and eat lunch. They are then picked up or walked over to the school by our teachers for the start of their afternoon program.

Afternoon session - children can be dropped off to us at 11:25 or if Deane Porter students, they can be picked up by our teachers at dismissal and walked to the Peach Pit. This session runs until 1:25. Students have lunch ready for them when they get to the Peach Pit.

Our program includes thoughtfully planned activities using research-based best practices for the development of skills, confidence, and overall well-being. All of our teachers are Highly-Qualified, certified teaching specialists. We have reading, math, and behavioral specialists on our team and our PreK teachers work together to plan, assess, and apply the most quality, high-level educational experience. Students are formally and informally assessed throughout the year, providing parent feedback for personalized plans and support. When learning is fun and impactful, children are eager to rise to the high expectations and love coming.

Additionally, students have an opportunity to play and engage in an age appropriate way that improves their cognitive, physical and social skills; which they will need for studying, working and building relationships. We emphasize sharing, turn-taking, communication, listening and following instructions, self-regulation, empathy, problem solving, gross and fine motor skills, memory & attention, self-care and basic numeracy and literacy.

Each day focuses on different areas of the arts/extracurricular whether it be music, drama, STEM, sports/dance or art. We allow for structured-freedom which helps children build connections in their brain to lay the groundwork for cognitive growth. In addition, we always incorporate Kindergarten readiness activities into our time together.

Students engage in age-appropriate, hands-on learning, in a safe environment where they are encouraged to take risks and try new things with their peers. Instruction is personalized to meet every child right where they are. We wind down every day with a read aloud and short discussion and reflection of our time together.
